Doing your own inner child work is crucial for understanding children
Jan 25, 2024I thought gaining theoretical knowledge about children was all I needed in understanding children. I was wrong.
Because knowledge remains at a conscious level. But we don't always respond from a place of knowledge, we often respond from a place of experience. Experiences within those foundational years (approx first 7 years).
Doing the inner child work isnt something we can ever fully complete or finish, it's a commitment to the journey of acknowledging the inner child wounds in all of us, and actively reconnecting with that inner child with curiosity and compassion. When we do that, this lens flows onto the way we see and understand children and ourselves. What they need is what we need and vice versa.
We all have these core human needs to be seen, heard, understood and loved. We 'get' it on a deeper level when we are doing 'the work' alongside children. It really does begin with us 💕
