supporting parents to let their child fly
Dec 31, 2023I love this quote by Dr Shefali:
My child is here to fumble, stumble, try, cry, learn, mess up, fail, try again
My task is to step aside, stay in infinite possibility, heal my own wounds, fill my own bucket, let my child fly
When working with parents and their children, often parents feel this immense pressure to craft this perfect childhood experience for their child. This projection can feel like such a burden for the child and parent.
When you release the parent, you release the child.
Part of supporting parents with this, is to acknowledge the inner child wounds. We all carry these wounds within us. Our childhood experiences lay down a foundation that plays out as an adult. How do we treat ourselves when we cry, mess up, fail, fumble? That is where the work is.
Supporting parents to take the path back towards themselves allows them to have the space to heal within themselves.
Not to heal through their child as a vessel for their wounds, but to connect with their child on a deeper level, as their own separate soul that will pave their own unique path in life 💕🧚🏾♀️
