Want to learn play therapy?

child-parent relationship therapy skills for the working mama

8 week online course- starting 9th September 2024 - with 2 x check-in calls with Dr Sam

Many working mothers feel this intense pressure to ‘do it all’ and feel guilty when they are trying to juggle their parenting whilst still showing up in their careers and for themselves.

It can feel overwhelming trying to figure out what your child might need from you or navigate their emotional well-being as well as your own.

This 8-week online course incorporates an evidence-based play therapy model, child-parent relationship therapy (CPRT), designed to teach parents the play therapy skills to conduct play therapy sessions with their child, along with a focus on maternal mental health (a.k.a your wellbeing) and unique challenges as a working mother!

What is the Child-Parent Relationship Therapy Model (CPRT)?

CPRT is a research proven, play-based therapy developed by Landreth (play therapist) and based on the work of the Guerneys (family therapists) that helps parents and children build stronger relationships. Through CPRT, parents learn play therapy skills to understand and support their child's emotional and behavioural needs.

4 Key Benefits of CPRT (backed by research!)

1. Stronger parent-child bond

2. Improved emotional & behavioural issues in children

3. Increased confidence for parents

4. Less stress and better communication in the whole family

Why is this play therapy course designed for working mothers?

After I became a Child Therapist, I noticed a huge gap between therapists who work with children, and those who work with mothers. I wanted to specialise in both so I went on to complete training in maternal mental health and worked for several years as a Mental Health Clinician for a specialised psychology practice, solely focusing on providing therapy to mothers. Many of my clients were working mothers (as am I), and I wanted to cater to the unique needs of working mothers, supporting them to understand themselves and their child and strengthen the parent-child relationship.
